1. The problem with modern architecture (from 1950’s & 60s) is that its an energy hog that doesn’t respond to its climactic conditions, making it flawed. Additionally, the most celebrated work is dominated by white male architects who were exceptionally “masculine” / ego-centric.

2. Therefore to express the flawed nature of these ideas, we mock and poke fun of iconic buildings by putting them in drag as sustainable, demonstrating their major weaknesses. This (a) engages/critiques the problem of modern day “green washing” by oversimplifying issues, and (b) castrates the “masculine” nature of the architecture by making it “feminine”.

Ultimately, we feel that architecture must also move beyond sex and gender for it to become meaningful and reflective of our rich and diverse cultures, climates, environment, and sexualities and TRANSITION TOWARDS RESPONSIBLE DESIGN.
